MINISTRIES
Emergency Preparedness: We thought we would hear from a local representative of the American Red Cross in April about how to prepare ourselves and our families for emergencies. However that didn't happen. We continue to wait for the city of Los Altos to expand their emergency preparedness program to see if we can move forward with more neighborhood organization. If there are those in Mountain View, Cupertino, or Sunnyvale who have been thinking about helping organize their neighborhoods, please talk to Darlene Mutschelknaus.
Hospitality: The "HUNT", our neighborhood Easter egg hunt held at Mountain View High School exceeded our expectations. It proved to be a wonderful opportunity to gather neighbors who seemed eager for such a community event. We had a great time just standing around during and after the event, getting to know our neighbors better. A number expressed a desire for more events like this for their families. Our team will be doing a final evaluation and looking to future outreach of this kind.
Mentor/Tutors: Here's where we are now in on-going relationships with teens from our area schools and were "keeping on" meeting with them. There have been some very encouraging movements in kids' lives and we've come up against some tough challenges. Now we move from initial excitement to a time of faithful service. Talk to Lyle Bickley if you would like to be involved.
Fourth Ministries: While we'd like to claim her ministry as part of our new mentor/tutor outreach, we have to acknowledge that Debbie Mihm has been involved as a volunteer librarian and tutor/mentor at Huff School (just a couple miles north of FCC) for some time. Through her presence at the school, she has had opportunity to have a wonderful influence on students and teachers, much like the loving care she has given our Sunday School children over the years.
